TROMBONE MASTER CLASS:
THE JAZZ TROMBONIST
Historical aspects. Stylistic aspects. Technical aspects from sound / vibrato to tonguing / articulation. The Slide: movement, alternate positions - why, how and where to use them. The importance of breath-control and how to achieve it / expand it. Range, flexibility etc., all of course adapted to the level of the participating student. Will not specifically cover the basic elements of jazz-improvisation, as that can be studied elsewhere, but will deal with the relating problems trying to adapt these elements to the trombone, considering its physical possibilities, advantages and limitations.
For the more advanced jazz players: Discussing the aspects of developing a personal and readily identifiable sound / style / vocabulary while retaining and further developing ones versatility to meet the diverse demands of a top-flight pro.
